Cold-Pressed Castor Oil

  • Cold-Pressed Castor Oil

    • Around 90% ricinoleic acid — a fatty acid found in almost no other plant oil, and the reason castor behaves unlike anything else.
    • Thick, glossy and slow to absorb. It sits on the surface longer than other oils, which is exactly why it's used where you want something to stay put.
    • For lashes, brows and hair. Applied to lash and brow lines, and massaged into the scalp and lengths before washing.
    • For skin, nails and cuticles. Rich enough for very dry areas — heels, elbows, hands — and a traditional cuticle oil.
    • Blends well. Often mixed with a lighter oil such as jojoba or apricot kernel to make it easier to spread.
    • Cold-pressed and unrefined. No heat, no solvents, no hexane. Nothing added.
    • Produced in Jordan in an ISO 22000 certified facility. Halal certified. Retail, bulk, and private label.

Cold-Pressed Castor Oil

Pure castor oil (Ricinus communis), cold-pressed in our own facility in Amman from selected seed. No heat, no solvents, no refining.

An oil unlike any other

Castor is chemically unusual. Around 90% of it is ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that appears in almost no other plant oil, and everything distinctive about castor follows from that — the viscosity, the glossy finish, the way it clings rather than sinking in.

It is noticeably thicker than any other oil we press. That isn't a flaw to be worked around; it's the property people buy it for.

How to use it

Lashes and brows — Apply a small amount along the lash line or brows with a clean brush at night, avoiding the eye itself.

Hair and scalp — Massage into the scalp and lengths and leave for at least thirty minutes, or overnight, then wash out. Because it's thick, most people warm it first or blend it with a lighter oil — jojoba, sweet almond or apricot kernel — to make it spread.

Skin — Suits very dry areas: heels, elbows, knees and hands. A small amount goes a long way.

Nails and cuticles — A drop massaged into the cuticle. A traditional use, and one of the easiest.

Not Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Worth being clear, since the names get used interchangeably. Jamaican Black Castor Oil is made by roasting the seeds and retaining the ash, which makes it dark and alkaline. Ours is cold-pressed from unroasted seed — pale gold, and a different product with a different character. If you're looking specifically for JBCO, this isn't it.

How it's made

Cold-pressed on German machinery without heat or chemical solvents, then filtered and bottled. Unrefined, non-GMO, hexane-free, vegan-friendly. Nothing added.

Produced in an ISO 22000 certified facility and tested by independent third parties. Halal certified. Available in retail bottles, bulk, and private label.

Storage and notes

  • Castor oil has a traditional internal use that we make no claims about; please consult a healthcare professional rather than self-treating.
  • Keep away from the eyes themselves. If oil gets in the eye, wipe with a clean tissue rather than rinsing.
  • Patch-test before wider use.
  • Store in a cool, dark place. Castor is one of the more stable oils and keeps well.
  • Colour may vary slightly between batches with the season and harvest.

The Truth About Most Oil on the Market

When it comes to oils, you’ve probably seen a lot of brands claiming “pure,” “natural,” or even “organic” on their labels. But what does that really mean? The sad truth is that many oils on the market are processed in ways that take away their benefits.

  • Deodorizing & Bleaching: Some oils go through additional processes like deodorizing and bleaching to remove any natural smell or color. This further strips away the natural benefits, leaving you with an oil that’s not much more than an oily liquid.
