Cumin Oil
Cumin Seed Oil
Cold-Pressed Cumin Seed Oil
Pure cumin seed oil (Cuminum cyminum), cold-pressed in our own facility in Amman from selected seed. No heat, no solvents, no refining.
Not to be confused with black seed oil
Cumin and black seed are often conflated because the names overlap in both English and Arabic. They are unrelated plants. This is Cuminum cyminum — the cumin of the spice rack, the one in kabsa, falafel and shawarma spice. Our black seed oil is Nigella sativa, a different product entirely.
What it is
A fixed oil pressed from the whole seed, retaining the aromatic compounds that give cumin its character alongside the seed's fatty acids. It is amber to deep gold, and the aroma is immediately recognisable — warm, earthy and slightly bitter, exactly like the spice but concentrated.
Note the distinction from cumin essential oil, which is steam-distilled, far more concentrated, and must be diluted before any use. This is the pressed oil: gentler, and usable as it comes.
In the kitchen
Use it where you'd reach for ground cumin but want the aroma without the texture — it disperses evenly and carries further than the powder.
- Stirred into hummus, mutabbal and labneh
- In marinades for lamb, chicken and fish
- Drizzled over roasted vegetables, particularly carrots and cauliflower
- Into lentil soup or shorbat adas at the end of cooking
- In dressings, with lemon and garlic
- Brushed onto flatbread before baking
Use sparingly. Cumin oil is far stronger than the ground spice, and a few drops replace a spoonful.
A flavouring, not a cooking oil. This is one of our registered food flavourings — used by the drop rather than the spoonful. A few drops carry the character of the whole spice, so it goes into a dish at the end rather than into the pan. One drop typically replaces a spoonful of the ground spice.
On skin and hair
Traditionally used in the region in massage preparations and hair oils, usually blended with a lighter carrier such as sesame or sweet almond rather than applied alone.
How it's made
Cold-pressed on German machinery without heat or chemical solvents, then filtered and bottled. Unrefined, non-GMO, hexane-free, vegan-friendly. Nothing added.
Produced in an ISO 22000 certified facility and tested by independent third parties. Halal certified. Available in retail bottles, bulk, and private label.
Storage and notes
- Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, with the cap closed.
- The aroma is strong and carries — keep it away from other stored foods.
- Patch-test before applying to skin, and dilute in a carrier oil for wider use.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with a healthcare professional before regular use.
- As with any unrefined natural oil, colour and aroma vary slightly between batches.
