How It’s Different

Not all herbal extracts are what they seem. In an industry flooded with shortcuts, fillers, and misleading labels, the real difference often lies behind the scenes — in the ingredients no one talks about, the methods no one sees, and the compromises customers don’t even know they’re drinking or applying to their skin.

At Green Fields Oils, we believe the truth is something that should be felt — not hidden. Here’s how our extracts stand apart from the crowd:

What You See Isn’t Always What You Get

Many herbal extracts on the market might look natural, but that doesn’t mean they truly are. Some common hidden practices include:

  • Synthetic Colors: To make the extract look “rich” or “fresh,” some producers add chemical dyes — turning clear glycerin green for mint, red for hibiscus, or golden yellow for turmeric. These dyes do nothing for the quality but everything for deception.

  • Artificial Flavors & Scents: That strong herbal smell? In some products, it doesn’t even come from the plant — it comes from added lab-made fragrance oils made to mimic the real thing.

  • Powder Dissolution: Instead of extracting the herb itself, some producers dissolve pre-dried powdered herbs or even flavor powders in water or glycerin, calling it an extract — even though the plant was never really extracted.

  • Preserved with Harm: Preservatives like parabens, PEGs, or alcohols are often used to extend shelf life — but can be harsh on skin, especially in sensitive cosmetic or oral-use products.

  • Topped with Thickeners: To make it feel more luxurious, cheap thickeners or gums are added, masking the thinness of diluted or under-extracted products.

What’s Being Hidden

Behind low prices and flashy labels, here’s what’s often not disclosed:

  • Imported Bulk with No Source Transparency: Many extracts are bought in bulk from factories, repackaged, and labeled as “handmade” or “local.” Their origin? Unknown. Their content? Questionable.

  • No Real Extraction: Instead of slow, plant-based extraction, some producers soak herbs for just a few hours (or even minutes), then strain and bottle — a far cry from deep, complete infusion.

  • Essential Oil-Added Glycerin: Some use cheap glycerin and mix it with a drop of essential oil to “fake” an extract, bypassing the actual herb altogether.

  • Plastic Containers During Processing: Chemical reactions with plastic during heating or mixing can lead to contamination — but it’s cheaper, so it’s used.

Why Our Herbal Extracts Are Different

We don’t do shortcuts. We don’t believe in “good enough.” Here’s what you’ll find in every drop of our extract:

  • Only Two Ingredients: The Plant & Glycerin – That’s it. No colors. No alcohol. No additives. Just pure vegetable glycerin and the whole, unprocessed herb or flower.

  • Cold or Gentle Heat Maceration – Depending on the plant, we use methods that respect its properties. Some are cold-infused for weeks, others are gently heated — but never rushed.

  • Custom Machinery for Filtration & Mixing – We built our own system that allows for deep infusion without contamination, guaranteeing a clean, stable extract.

  • Small Batches for Real Control – Each extract is made in small batches to ensure every step is monitored. We don’t do mass production. We do meaningful production.

  • No Chemical Residues – We don’t use solvents, alcohols, or synthetics — so there’s no trace of anything unnatural in your bottle.

History & Origins of Banana Peels

Bananas have been a vital part of human diets for thousands of years, with their cultivation dating back to ancient Southeast Asia and later spreading across Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. While the sweet, soft fruit has long been celebrated, the peel... often tossed away.. quietly carried its own story.

In traditional cultures, especially in India, China, and some African regions, banana peels weren’t considered waste. They were used in home remedies, natural dyeing, and even to polish metals or soothe insect bites. In farming communities, peels were repurposed into compost, animal feed, or fermented for use in natural preparations.

More recently, banana peel extracts have found a place in natural skincare and personal care routines, especially as people return to using whole-plant ingredients with minimal waste.

At Green Fields Oils, we use carefully peels from bananas, extracting them in a slow, controlled process that keeps the benefits minimizes processing.
